+Aii & Ego and Nightmare 2017 Event

Princess Aii, the unequivocal artist of the unsettling is back again with the Nightmare 2017 Event, which is even more nightmarish than last year's. The scenarios have been designed based on survey responses from SL residents about what scares them the most and includes everything from traditional jump scares and arachnophobia to things like claustrophobia and a couple of my own personal favorites - creepy dolls and endless corridors.

I'm showing just a few pictures to whet your appetite and to serve as an introduction for those of you who may not have participated before...

You arrive at the sim and find creepy shops with all sorts of goodies. I'm wearing the Keeper Mask available from Egosumaii. The mask is available in 5 shades (Natural shown). When you have shopped to your heart's content, walk into the center of the star chart in the middle of the shops to start your descent into nightmare...

You come to a door. Be sure to read all the instructions and to take your flashlight, because you will need it. Turn on sounds, add your hud, use mouselook as much as possible and remember to smile because that way you can check to see if you have all your teeth.

BTW, you will be hunting for teeth. If the thought of collecting molars bothers you, turn back now! You need to collect 25 of them in your hud as well as keys to get you from one location to another. Click on teeth and keys as you find them. You will want them later!

+Aii {egosumaii} ~ There will be DRAGONS!

If you enjoy unusual accessories as much as I do, you really need to visit this month's Arcade Gacha event! +Aii {egosumaii} has some dragons that are to die for!
These lovely bento dragons come as COMMON singles or as the RARE Brothers. There is also a color change RARE single. All are animated. There are also lanterns for the dragons to hold or for you to use without the dragon. The Brothers tend to quibble with each other, snapping and posturing as they float around your body. The singles are a little calmer, occasionally snapping, but for the most part, rubbing against your hand or face like a large cat.

I'm wearing my favorite frock coat from Dark Passions clothing and my Moroccan Chic nails from DP Koffin Nails.

Siren

They say he found her in the water. The thin, naked girl caught in the weeds below the lighthouse. He pulled her out, pressed his mouth against hers and blew the wind into her still body. She opened her eyes and they were the cold red eyes of a fish. If it gave him pause, he never said so. He took her inside, warmed her, fed her and brought her back to life.

She was lovely in her own way, though her eyes were strange and if you looked closely, there was a thin webbing between her fingers. When he dressed her in human clothes, you could scarcely tell that she was other... except for the webbed fingers... and fish that seemed to swim in and out of her floating hair... and her strange mottled skin.

She never spoke. The villagers say that on the nights of the dark moon they heard her singing in a high, eerie voice, but that seems unlikely. Her face held a slight smile as though laughing at a secret that only she knew. She loved the lighthouse keeper. You could tell by the way she looked at him.

On stormy nights, she would stand on the rocks below the lighthouse and look longingly at the water. She didn't walk in though. Her feet stayed on the land until the night the lighthouse keeper died. She disappeared that night. They found her dress in the weeds below the lighthouse, but they never found a body.

Lovecraft Festival 2017 August 17-27

There are a lot of SL events that are kind of predictable. You go to Hair Fair, or Skin Fair, you know what to expect. I go to Lovefest every year and never see it coming! This year's event offers shopping galore, dancing, shows, a gacha pier and an awesome underwater quest.

Lovefest honors all things Lovecraftian. I've loved the stories of HP Lovecraft for half a century and still think they blow all other horror tales right out of the water. Tuesday afternoons @ 5pm slt frequently find me sitting in the Innsmouth Lovecraft Visitor's Center listening to someone reading a Lovecraft story. It's my me time.

Modern horror writers borrow from him all the time and the good ones acknowledge the inspiration he provided. One of the reasons that movies made from his stories tend to fall flat is that nobody has ever managed to convey the feeling of dread inspired by the original stories. It's an internal process and impossible to replicate or represent on film.

Yes, he overused certain words, but he was creating an atmosphere and he managed to get inside our heads no matter how many times we may groan when we read about that spectral gibbous moon. Thank you, Arik Metzger and all the other crazies in Innsmouth for yet another accursed amorphous affair!

Descent Into Madness

"I shall grant your wishes", the lamp declared. "Anything your heart desires."

CAUTION: This way lies madness! Have you ever thought what might happen if you actually got all your wishes? I mean, ALL of them? They say "Be careful what you wish for" with good cause!

Mad Teaparty @ the Gothic Garage Sale

Afternoon tea @ the Gothic Garage Sale. We all know that Gothic clothing can be rich, dark and lovely, but it can also be a lot of fun! I love this dress from SenzaFine. The textures are wonderful and the kicky little ruffle around the bottom puts it in a class above similarly styled dresses. You only have a few more days to hit the sale. The garage doors slam shut August 8.

Here, Kitty, Kitty, Kitty!

There's a hunt @ the Gothic Garage Sale.
For only L$5 each, you can take home some wonderful gifts. At last count there were 21 black cats hidden around the sales area, but you know how cats are... there may be more by the time you read this! No spoilers, but if you can figure out where these pictures were taken on the GGS sim, you'll know where three of the cats are.
