Off the Beaten Track @ the Forgotten Forest

We all need a quiet spot where we can relax, read and perhaps work a bit of magick. My refuge features items from Dark Passions Forgotten Forest, both from the sales booths and from the Hunt Bottles.

• Reading materials from [QE Home] include the Forgotten Forest Book Stack with rare mushrooms in protective terrariums, individual books which can be clicked for a brief synopsis of the text and Acherontia Candles to add a bit of light in the darkness. On the bench, a copy of Tales from the Forgotten Forest has a small Spooky Mushroom growing from the cover. Pieces available separately or in a Fat Pack. Candles are Hunt items. *

From the Forgotten Forest

The Wall ran through the forest. There was no apparent end to it. Nor did there seem to be a gate or other way through it.  On the west side, the forest seemed darker and more forbidding. Sun dappled flowers grew on the east side. I walked along the eastern side, occasionally whacking the bricks with the stick I held in my hand. 

Suddenly the wall shimmered and an opening appeared. A Fae creature wearing nothing but a few sticks and flowers appeared and stepped through the opening before it quickly closed again.

Now the question is: was the Fae there before I touched the opening in the wall, or did the opening cause her to materialize? [Think Schrodinger's Cat]

Outfit components + Vanishing Brick Wall in 3 sizes from Starlight Designs *. The Wall has a section that turns transparent on touch for approximately 7 seconds, allowing passage through from one side to the other.

A Hymn for Nyx

In Greek mythology Nyx stands as the embodiment of night. Born of Chaos, she was one of the first deities to shape the universe. Nyx cloaks the world in darkness.

Mother to Sleep and Death, Nyx weaves through the myths as a figure of immense mystery and power. Her presence is felt when the skies darken and whispers of the unknown start to fill the air.

I combined items from two of my sponsors to create an evocative atmosphere for my Nyx rite. 

The outfit is the lovely Danse Diabolique Gown and Cape from Aii. It comes rigged for Reborn, Waifu, V-tech, Legacy F, Perky, Petite, and includes a huge hud of textures. Pieces can be worn separately to expand the versatility of the outfit.

The setting is from [QE Home] ~ Velara Wedding Arch, Velara Crystal Clusters, Velara Candles, Velara Moonstone Path and Velara Altar Stones. Each piece has multiple color choices. There are a dozen stone textures for the Altar and Path. Pieces sold separately in dark or light or all together in a Fatpack.

Angel or Devil?

When descriptions of angels given in the Bible were fed into AI art generators, the depiction of spiritual beings shifted dramatically from the beautiful robed, winged and haloed androgenous or male beings that had been the artistic norm for millennia to images of alien visages with strange shapes that caused viewers to feel vertigo when looking at them. Suddenly the familiar words, "Be not afraid" took on an entirely different connotation. What if it wasn't intended as an encouraging greeting? What if it was a literal statement because the appearance of a divine being is terrifying?

Thank heavens for SL creators who provide costuming and avatars that allow us to experience our realities in unique ways. Ideals of beauty are subjective. What one person might consider terrifying might be very attractive to another.

Components from Aii's Galewing Harpy, combined with the Satyr head from BeSpoke gave me exactly the look I wanted for my Angel. Aii Creations have long had the epithet, "The Ugly & Beautiful", which certainly applies with this look.
