Scarecrows hold a unique position among the ghoulies and ghosties and long-legged beasties at harvest and Hallowe'en time. Sometimes the scarecrow is used to elicit horror, other times they play the hero or give comic relief. 
Probably the most famous scarecrow is, of course, played by Ray Bolger in the movie of the Wizard of Oz, who was wise and caring in spite of having a head full of straw.

It's time for Trick or Treat Lane!

As the year darkens, the veil between the worlds thins. Whether you call it All Hallow's, Samhain, Hallowe'en, Dia de los Muertos or something else, it's time to celebrate life by honoring the Dead and all the other denizens of the dark.

Trick or Treat Lane offers new, exclusive and discounted items from your favorite Fantasy, Witchy, Gothic and Esoteric creators presented in a beautifully landscaped region with lots of unique scenarios for taking pictures.

Each booth has a Trick or Treat Hunt item. You have the option of hunting for little ghosts like the one I'm holding in the picture to find the Treat for L$0, or if you don't like to hunt, you can purchase the Hunt items for L$50 from the Trick or Treat bag in front of the booth. Hunt Ghosts are scattered everywhere throughout the event and are not limited to being in or around the shops.

We all need a quiet spot where we can relax, read and perhaps work a bit of magick. My refuge features items from Dark Passions Forgotten Forest, both from the sales booths and from the Hunt Bottles.

Dark Passions Forgotten Forest 

From the Forgotten Forest

The Wall ran through the forest. There was no apparent end to it. Nor did there seem to be a gate or other way through it.  On the west side, the forest seemed darker and more forbidding. Sun dappled flowers grew on the east side. I walked along the eastern side, occasionally whacking the bricks with the stick I held in my hand. 

Suddenly the wall shimmered and an opening appeared. A Fae creature wearing nothing but a few sticks and flowers appeared and stepped through the opening before it quickly closed again.

Now the question is: was the Fae there before I touched the opening in the wall, or did the opening cause her to materialize? [Think Schrodinger's Cat]

The Wheel of the Year turns and we find ourselves taking refuge from the heat in the Forgotten Forest. This spot is not on any map and is hidden from those who lack a sense of magick.

Dark Passions brings you the Forgotten Forest event August 21- September 4.

Your favorite fantasy, witchy, esoteric and mystical creators have gathered to share their visions and to make their newest and most unique goods available in one beautifully landscaped location.

As you journey through the Forest, watch for Potion Bottles like the one I'm holding. Find a bottle, pay the L$25 finder's fee and add the wonders inside to your inventory. Hunt items often compliment or complete the items for sale in the booths. Bottles may be hidden or in plain sight anywhere in the event region. There are no hints, it just takes a keen eye to find them.

Home Sweet Ostara Home

Not only can you find a new house and landscaping @ Ostara's Altar, you can also find the furnishings to decorate your new home. Several of the shops have houses and furniture available. When you purchase items from a themed event, you're already halfway to having a coordinated look without the frustration of jumping around the grid or doomscrolling in MP.

Take the teleporter to the Rez area to get up close and personal with some of the housing and landscaping options. I'm showing the exterior and the rear interior room from Dragon Magic Wares EXCLUSIVE Oakheart Cottage * furnished with items from [QE Home]

The decor will require a little traveling but, never fear, I've made it easy for you. Items to the right in the picture of the interior are from QE Home's EXCLUSIVE Vernal Moon * collection available @ Ostara's Altar. The rest of the furnishings and plants are available @ the [QE] Main Stores [1][2]

Outside the door to the Cottage you can see the EXCLUSIVE Ostara's Blessing Rune Reader * from Goddess Creations. It's golden, it's glowy, it has internal fires and comes nestled in field grasses and flowers! Touch it and it will give you a reading for the rune displayed.

Earth Elementals

• Though it wasn't always the case, most people from the 19th century on have thought of fairies as minuscule beings with butterfly wings. 
• There are hundreds of varieties of fae folk of all sizes with and without wings. Sprites, Brownies, Dryads, Nymphs, Elves and Elementals are just a few of the categories in the English-speaking countries. Fae folk tend to materialize out of nowhere and appear with slightly skewed human or animal features which are either uncomfortably ugly or unbelievably beautiful.

• Your imagination is the only limit to becoming a fae creature in Second Life. Whether you prefer gossamer and sparkles or leaves and mud, you can put together a fairy persona to suit your tastes. 

• Today's looks lean towards the Earth Elementals, who protect wild nature and are often hard to distinguish from the plants and animals they defend. 
• The natural components are from the EXCLUSIVE Avery sets by Faunus. Each set includes the Crown, Bracelets, Necklace, Skirt, Top (female only) and Wreath. [Flowers are available in 6 colors with the addition of brown and green for the female top] Pieces sold separately or all together in Fatpacks.
