Dark Passions Forgotten Forest 

From the Forgotten Forest

The Wall ran through the forest. There was no apparent end to it. Nor did there seem to be a gate or other way through it.  On the west side, the forest seemed darker and more forbidding. Sun dappled flowers grew on the east side. I walked along the eastern side, occasionally whacking the bricks with the stick I held in my hand. 

Suddenly the wall shimmered and an opening appeared. A Fae creature wearing nothing but a few sticks and flowers appeared and stepped through the opening before it quickly closed again.

Now the question is: was the Fae there before I touched the opening in the wall, or did the opening cause her to materialize? [Think Schrodinger's Cat]

The Wheel of the Year turns and we find ourselves taking refuge from the heat in the Forgotten Forest. This spot is not on any map and is hidden from those who lack a sense of magick.

Dark Passions brings you the Forgotten Forest event August 21- September 4.

Your favorite fantasy, witchy, esoteric and mystical creators have gathered to share their visions and to make their newest and most unique goods available in one beautifully landscaped location.

As you journey through the Forest, watch for Potion Bottles like the one I'm holding. Find a bottle, pay the L$25 finder's fee and add the wonders inside to your inventory. Hunt items often compliment or complete the items for sale in the booths. Bottles may be hidden or in plain sight anywhere in the event region. There are no hints, it just takes a keen eye to find them.

My look today features the lovely Sugar Petal Gown Set from Aii. I wanted a strong presence and the red textures in the hud worked perfectly to express my idea.

Earth Elementals

• Though it wasn't always the case, most people from the 19th century on have thought of fairies as minuscule beings with butterfly wings. 
• There are hundreds of varieties of fae folk of all sizes with and without wings. Sprites, Brownies, Dryads, Nymphs, Elves and Elementals are just a few of the categories in the English-speaking countries. Fae folk tend to materialize out of nowhere and appear with slightly skewed human or animal features which are either uncomfortably ugly or unbelievably beautiful.

• Your imagination is the only limit to becoming a fae creature in Second Life. Whether you prefer gossamer and sparkles or leaves and mud, you can put together a fairy persona to suit your tastes. 

• Today's looks lean towards the Earth Elementals, who protect wild nature and are often hard to distinguish from the plants and animals they defend.
